When your skin breathes, It glows

Can you imagine a sight where muscles, bones, organs, blood vessels could be seen? If skin was not present, the internal organs would be lying exposed and that would not be a pleasant site! Apart from external appearance, skin serves as a physical and chemical barrier between the external environment and the tissues present inside your body. The barrier function is critical to protect underlying tissues from pathogens, chemicals, pollutants and toxins present in the environment.  The largest organ which prevents your body needs its share of care as well.

Beauty lies deep within the skin. The more you take care of the skin from within, the healthier it would become. Nutrition plays an important role in the maintenance of healthy skin. For natural, healthy looking skin ensure its care is as natural as possible.

Let us look at the damage your skin can suffer from:

  • Dehydrated, dull and dry skin:
Despite applying moisturisers regularly, your skin can stay dry and dull. It is due to the lack of internal hydration. Your skin might have dry texture from the beginning but dehydration and dullness occur when your skin does not get enough water. Common signs of dehydrated skin include redness and inflammation.
Dry skin lacks oil because it produces less sebum than normal skin. Dry skin tends to be uncomfortable, flaky, and itchy.

  • Itchy patches on skin:
Itching on skin can be present due to general irritation, hair re-growth, sun burns, insect bites, dry skin or healing wounds.  It may be present in patches or may be present on the entire skin. Skin diseases that cause itching include psoriasis, eczema and dermatitis. Presence of dandruff on scalp is also a reason for itching on scalp. Urticaria or bee hives also lead to itchy and uncomfortable skin.A happy woman smiling while looking in the mirror

  • Fungal infection on skin:
Contrary to what is thought, ringworm is a contagious fungal infection. It is not a worm! It can appear anywhere on the body but typically appears between toes, on the scalp, in the groin or under arms. It causes a red or silvery rash in the shape of a ring.

  • Damage due to UV Rays:
Unprotected exposure to UV rays or ultra violet rays harms your skin. This is applicable for all seasons including winter. Two types of UV rays contribute to skin damage and skin cancer i.e. Ultraviolet A and Ultraviolet B rays. UVA has a longer wave length and is associated with skin ageing and UVB has shorter wave length and is associated with skin burning. Sun burns can appear in all seasons.

  • Skin flakes can appear!
Damage to the upper layer of skin can cause the formation of skin flakes. Your body sheds around 30,000 to 40,000 skin cells each day and replaces them each day. But when skin cells shed are more in number than the skin cells made, skin flakes or skin scales can appear. The reasons for skin flakes can include dry skin, sunburns, conventional medications for blood pressure and seizures, seborrheic dermatitis, eczema, fungal infections, allergic reactions and hypothyroidism. Deficiency of vitamin A and vitamin B3 can also lead to peeling of skin.

Smart skin care is essential to address each of the above skin problems. Whatever you do and whatever you eat reflect on your skin.

Self care can help in improving the well-being of skin:

  • Wise people exercise!
Yes, because they have many reasons to exercise. It improves their physical and mental health and also makes their skin glow. Exercising improves blood flow and thereby provides more oxygen, nutrients to working cells of body including skin cells. Proper blood flow also helps in carrying away waste products like free radicals from skin cells.A person with glowing and clear skin

  • Cleansing
Ensure that you use a good cleanser or a mild soap everyday not just for your face but for your entire body. You should also use nutrient rich face masks and face packs, especially those made with local, natural ingredients to keep your skin supple and feeling fresh. Always ensure that you remove your make-up before sleeping and use products that are suitable for your skin type. It’s better to do a patch test on your wrists before using a new product to check its suitability on your skin.

  • Sleeping beauties have beautiful skin!
That is because when a person has a refreshing sleep; it limits the ageing process and gives time to your skin to recover moisture from the water that would otherwise be eliminated from the body. Lack of sleep would increase inflammatory cells in body and increase breakdown of collagen and hyaluronic acid which give the skin its glow, bounce and translucency. When you don’t sleep enough, it increases the breakouts of existing skin conditions such as acne.

  • Use curcumin-rich supplements: Oxyrich Juice and Capsules!
Curcumin limits the progress of auto-immune diseases such as psoriasis. It reduces inflammation, skin flakes and damage by UV rays. Curcumin is effective in healing fungal infections and reduces its repetition. Aloe vera and Himalayan berry with curcumin in Oxyrich Juice provide hydration to the skin, give essential vitamins and minerals such as vitamin C and improve flow of blood to the skin cells.
Green tea, curcumin and Himalayan berry make Oxyrich Capsules and purify blood, reduce and heal damages to skin. They are anti-ageing and reduce acne, scars and pigmentation.
These ingredients contain phyto-nutrients and antioxidants which are vital for healthy skin.

Improved nutrient supply, sleep, cleansing and exercise make your skin breathe. When it breathes, it glows!
