Chikungunya is a viral infection caused by two species of mosquitoes, namely Aedes Aegypti and Aedes Albopictus. These species generally bite during the day and transmit the viral infection in the human body. These mosquitoes generally attack the human body from below so as to enable difficulty in detection. This infection is non-contagious and cannot be transferred from person to person. It usually lasts for 2-12 days after undergoing treatment. Symptoms generally begin after 3- 7 days after being bitten.
Chikungunya can lead to severe complications like Haemorrhage, Hepatitis, Nephritis, Retinitis, etc. There is no vaccination invented for Chikungunya yet, thus one needs to be really cautious and take steps to prevent the infection.
