Hair Loss

Hair loss is the shedding of hair from the scalp. It is a slow process that results in baldness if not controlled in time. Both men and women suffer from this disorder. Ayurveda denotes hair loss as ‘Khalitya’. As per Ayurveda, hair loss is the result of excess of pitta dosha or heat in the body.
At any time, 90% of the hair follicles on a person’s head are growing. As we grow older, the rate of hair growth slows. The main causes of hair loss are: hormones, genetics, stress and disease, childbirth, drugs, burns and x-rays, autoimmune diseases, cosmetic procedures, medical conditions like thyroid, iron deficiency, anaemia, eating disorders, nutritionally deficient diet and low water consumption.
