Clinical Issues

Bad Breath

Medically known as halitosis, bad breath is a common problem that is characterized by a noticeably unpleasant odour of the mouth which can cause significant distress, embarrassment , and anxiety. Bad breath is also associated with depression and symptoms of obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Several factors may contribute to this condition, which includes dry mouth, poor dental health habits, types of foods you eat or other unhealthy lifestyle habits. In addition to this, other health problems like tonsillitis, respiratory infections such as sinusitis or bronchitis, diabetes, kidney problem and some gastrointestinal diseases may also be responsible for a small number of cases of bad breath.  Fortunately, bad breath is relatively easy to remedy, at home and with the help of your dentist or physician.
