Chronic Fatigue Syndrome aka myalgic encephalomyelitis is a disorder caused due to extreme fatigue. Just rest cannot help a person recover from this problem. It is a long-term disorder with a varied range of symptoms. As the name suggests, the common symptom is exhaustion, tiredness and difficulty in carrying out daily activities.

People in the age group from 40-60 can get affected by this disorder. The main reason behind this disorder is uncertain and still not specifically known. Generally, women are diagnosed with this syndrome more often than men. This disorder can lead to depression and inability to socialize, if not treated on time.

SYMPTOMS OF CHRONIC FATIGUE SYNDROME

Inability to concentrate Muscle Pain
Constant feeling of tiredness Headache
Constant craving for sleep Sore throat
Dizziness Heart Palpitations

 

Do’s

  • Eat a balanced diet
  • Talk and interact with people
  • Try relaxation therapies before sleeping at night
  • Try to sleep and wake up at the same time daily
  • Exercise daily as it boosts your happy hormones
  • Sleep for at least 8 hours a day
  • Drink lots of water throughout the day
  • Consult a doctor

Don’ts

  • Do not smoke or drink as it can increase depression
  • Do not overuse drinks with caffeine content as it leads to an energy crash
  • Do not skip meals
  • Do not binge on sugary foods or junk food items as it leads to a glycaemic index crash
  • Do not force yourself to exhaustion
